In April 2012, Depot Square Publishing released the first volume in author John Taibi's two-part history about the old Delaware & Hudson mainline between Albany / Schenectady and Binghamton, NY. The D&H paralleled NY Route 7 and the upper reaches of the Susquehanna River watershed. The three different forms of transportation enabled the development of this region in central New York the Roads, Rivers, and Rails of the title. In Volume I, Taibi took the reader on a point-to-point journey over the line as far as Oneonta, NY, once the nerve center of the D&H with the world's largest roundhouse, shops, station, and extensive yards. Each town along the line was visited through text and images, providing a unique glimpse into the importance of the railroad to the vibrancy of the villages served.

Now comes Volume II, where Taibi continues his story of the D&H and its connect ion to all of the towns served between the "City of the Hills" (Oneonta) and the "Parlor City" (Binghamton). This book contains more than 600 first-generation color, sepia, and black & white illustrations - from vintage stereoviews and post cards to color photographs of current owner Canadian Pacific Rail sharing the steel ribbons with Norfolk Southern. Vintage D&H steam and early diesels to the most modern motive power - AC4400CW, SD60 SD90, ES44AC, C40-9W, and ES40DC - are captured at various locations over the line. Union Pacific and BNSF run-through power makes numerous appearances.

An extensive introduction reviews the first book. Then Volume II starts its own story with an all-new section on Oneonta. From there the journey continues down the Susquehanna watershed through Otego, Wells Bridge, Unadilla, Sidney, Bainbridge, Afton, Nineveh, Harpursville, Belden, Tunnel, Sanitaria Springs, and Port Crane - concluding at the "Parlor City", Binghamton.
